As Malaysia continues to strengthen its position as a global semiconductor hub, students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) gained valuable industry exposure through an industrial talk on “Semiconductor IC Testing” held on 10 June 2026 at the Melaka campus. Organised by the FET Industrial Linkage Committee, the session featured Mr. Felix Tan, Principal Test Development Engineer at TestHub Sdn Bhd, who shared his expertise and insights into one of the most critical stages of semiconductor manufacturing.

During the session, Mr. Felix introduced students to the semiconductor industry landscape and highlighted the vital role of integrated circuit (IC) testing in ensuring product quality and reliability. The talk covered semiconductor market trends, the industry value chain, the evolution of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems, and the semiconductor test development process widely practised in the industry. Students also gained a deeper understanding of the responsibilities of Test Development Engineers, the technical challenges encountered in the field, and the competencies required to succeed in the fast-growing semiconductor sector.

The interactive session provided students with valuable insights into career pathways within the semiconductor industry and the opportunities available in IC testing and development. By bridging classroom learning with real-world industry practices, the talk enhanced students’ awareness of current technological developments while equipping them with knowledge that will support their future career aspirations.
