Tan Hui Lin

Tan Hui Lin, also known as Sherlyn Tan, graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor in Business Administration (Hons.) Finance with Multimedia. Sherlyn is the Managing Director and Founder of Twenty3, an Omni channel fashion brand for women that provides a platform for young emerging local designers to efficiently match their creativity with fast moving fashion industry. She is proud of the fact that she is helping creativeleaning people , who often have to abandon their dreams for more “practical” jobs – to achieve their full potential. She gradually built Twenty3 from a blog shop into a recognisable brand in the industry. It started with a small online store, and has since grown to become one of the largest and most recognisable ecommerce brands in the country. Twenty3 now ships its products to over 40,000 customers from 20 different countries worldwide. She has three retail stores in the Klang Valley.

In 2015, Sherlyn Tan was awarded the Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin Entrepreneurship Award at the Alliance Bank SME Innovatio Challenge 2015, one of the prminent awards for SMEs in the country.

Dr. Imadur Rahman

Imadur Rahman, from Bangladesh completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Telecommunications in the year 2000. Securing a Nokia scholarship, Imadur completed his Masters degree in Radio Communications in 2003 at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. With another scholarship award by Samsung, he graduated with a Ph.D. in Wireless Communication at Aalborg University, Denmark in 2007. After a short stint in Aalborg University as an Assistant Research Professor and external researcher in Nokia Siemens Networks, he joined Ericsson Research in 2008. He is currently a Senior Researcher in Radio Access Technology at Ericsson Research in Stockholm, Sweden. He is part of the concept development team that is working towards 5G wireless system concepts.

Mohd Ghazzali Abu Bakar

Mohd Ghazzali Abu Bakar graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) (Film and Animation) in 2001. He is the Director and Founder of The Media Hustler Sdn. Bhd., a company that specialises in music video, telefilm, TV series and post production services.

He has directed music videos for numerous popular artists, including Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, Anuar Zain, Hafiz, Stacy, Shila Amzah, Alyah, Meet Uncle Hussain and Nitrous. Between 2011 and 2015, he directed several movies, including Cicakman, Suamiku Ustaz, Tokan and Hantu Kapcai. His biggest achievement is Polis Evo, an action movie that had grossed RM17.74 million, the highest among the local movies in 2015.

Noor Helmi Nong Hadzmi

“In MMU where I dream to have my own business and from the hostel room in MMU I built the company together with my roommates until it became a strong company at the moment. The exposure and hands-on experience that MMU graduates have are much better than any other local university graduates.”

Noor Helmi Nong Hadzmi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Engineering (2003). He is the Founder of IX Telecom, a communications technology company, one of the top MSC status companies.

Upon graduation Helmi worked at a start-up Telco Company, assisting in managing and operating Telco’s communication network while simultaneously pursuing his Master in Telecommunication Engineering at MMU. He then moved to another start-up airline company, Air Asia, where he built the company’s network and communication infrastructure. He founded IX Group of Companies with his MMU friends, leveraging on the combined knowledge grained in his degrees and experiences of managing a sport club as well as with start-up companies. IX Telecom is now globally known among telecommunications companies and IX Global Services, has service coverage in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Mohd Nizam Abd Razak

Mohd Nizam Abd Razak graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Multimedia (Hons.) (Film and Animation). Nizam is the Managing Director (Founder) of Animonsta Studios Sdn. Bhd., an animation content developer, specialising in feature films, TV series, merchandising and other related products in the intellectual property business.

The popular BoBoiBoy animated series in 2011 brought Nizam fame and international recognition. In the first year of its production, BoBoiBoy was broadcasted over the Disney Channel Asia, NTV7 as well as TV3. To date, the BoBoiBoy TV Animated series are aired in 44 countries in South East Asia. In March 2016, BoBoiBoy: The Movie, was premiered in theatres, and earned a gross RM16
million at the box-office. He is currently collaborating with TOMY Company Ltd., a Tokyo based renowned company for children’s merchandise and entertainment in Tokyo to produce a new preschool animated series, which is featured in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Emir Prathama Putra

“MMU’s international atmosphere helped me to value diversity in the workplace. It was one of the most important benefits of studying in MMU. Emir Prathama Putra, from Indonesia decided to enrol at MMU in 2007. He graduated in 2011 in Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons.) majoring in Information Systems Engineering and is currently an IT Project Manager with Credit Suisse Group.

After his first degree, he took up his first job at OCBC Bank, a Singaporean based bank with regional operations in Malaysia. Not stopping with a degree in IT, Emir continued to undertake a postgraduate degree in MBA which he completed in 2014. In 2016,

Emir proceeded to assume his current position with the Credit Suisse Group, a financial institution with investment banking, private banking and wealth management services.

Tan Aik Keong

Tan Aik Keong is the founder and director of Agmo Studio Sdn. Bhd., a multi-awards winning mobile apps development company. He founded the company with his partners, Steven Low Kang Wen and Tham Chin Seng, who are both MMU graduates.

Graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Engineering (Hons.) Electronics, Aik Keong attests to the solid programming knowledge and exposure to the real-life industry via his final year project.

Today, his company has developed more than 70 mobile applications in iOS, Android and Blackberry platforms for reputable clienteles – MyEG Services Bhd., Amway, MATTA, Miss Universe Malaysia. It has also won multiple local and international ICT awards – ASEAN ICT Awards (Digital Content), Hong Kong Mobile Appsanity Awards, and MSC Malaysia APICTA (Best of Media and Entertainment).

Sharifah Sarah Syed Mohamed Tahir

“What I have achieved today disproves the perception that local graduates are perceived to be less employable than overseas graduate. I truly believe that the experience and exposure that I have gained during my time in MMU has contributed to shape the person I am today. I am proud to be a graduate of MMU.”

Sharifah Sarah Syed Mohamed Tahir graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons.) from MMU in 2003 and an M.Sc. in Finance & Investment from University of Durham, UK. Sarah is currently the Head of Strategic Management, Maybank Islamic Banking Group and is responsible for delivering profit and revenue growth strategies for Maybank Group’s Global Banking business; driving business development and expansion plans in key markets as well as championing transformation and productivity initiatives for the business.

Sarah joined Maybank in 2011 to head the International Strategy and Strategy and Finance Divisions. In 2015, she was appointed as Maybank Islamic’s Chief Risk Officer overseeing the risk, strategy and finance functions for the Group’s Islamic banking business.

Prior to Maybank, Sarah served at several other prominent companies including CIMB Islamic, KPMG Business Advisory, Ansar Finance Group (UK) and Ersnt & Young.

Zulakmar Hazwan

Zulakmar Hazwan graduated with a Bachelor of Electronics Engineering (Hons) majoring in Microwave and Communication in 2006. He now runs a company that provides technology engineering services.

In 2010, Zulakmar established InnoCrest as an engineering consultancy business. He introduced Working Knowledge Group for Telecommunication Engineers (WKG) in 2014 and helped Malaysian chartered engineers build their career path and share experience among the members. In 2016, he introduced Creztinno Technophiles to expand the InnoCrest’s scope of operation to offer business consultancy in the aspects of telecommunication. He finds that it is very important for him to have both knowledge and skills in engineering and business administration.

He says the additional exposure to entrepreneurship and management at MMU has taught him how to operate a corporation. Life in MMU developed his leadership and communication skills that helped him to become a technoprenuer.

Gan Su Mui

Gan Su Mui graduated in 2010, with a Bachelor of Law (Hons.), First Class Honours degree and landed herself a job at the legal firm of Messrs Lim Chong Phang & Amy in Melaka.

Su Mui then proceeded to establish herself as a family law practitioner in Melaka, providing legal consultations for the registration of marriages involving non-citizens from countries, to name a few, China, Thailand and Switzerland. She also provides legal consultations and represents parties in petitions to court on adoption matters. She holds the view that legal practice is not only about making a living, but also about serving the community at large.

Recalling her days as a student in MMU, Su Mui admits that it was an amazing experience. After graduation, she keeps in touch with her former coursemates as well as other students, regardless of whether they were her juniors or seniors. Su Mui agrees that the graduates from MMU generally command positive comments from their respective employers in terms of their work performance and attitude.

Goldwin Leong Jin Long

Goldwin Leong Jin Long graduated with a Diploma in Information Technology (DIT), from the Centre for Diploma Programme (CDP) Melaka in 2011. He continued his studies in Information Technology at the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), in Cyberjaya. In 2014, Goldwin graduated with a Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons.) (Software Engineering).

Goldwin is currently attached to Fusionex as Associate Solution Architect. Fusionex is an established multi-award winning IT software group that specialises in Analytics and Big Data. Fusionex helps its clients manage, make sense of and derive useful insights and information from the huge amount of structured and unstructured data at their disposal. In Goldwin’s opinion, MMU graduates have strong practical skills compared to graduates from other universities. Hence, his industry always welcomes more MMU graduates to work with them.

Terrence Pong Jock Tack, graduated with a Diploma in Business Information Systems from Multimedia University in 2010. Upon completion, he enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Adminstration (Hons.) (Banking and Finance) and graduated in 2012. Terrence currently works as a Senior Client Advisor in United Overseas Bank (UOB).

Terrence’s job involves handling a group of high net worth customers, assigned by the bank. He provides investment advice and updates to his group of clients to manage their personal financial planning and achieve their financial goals.

Terrence has received numerous awards in his career which include the Nationwide Champion of Wealth Banking Relationship Manager in 2013, Platinum Award Achiever (London & Paris Incentive Trip) in 2013, Nationwide Champion of Wealth Banking Relationship Manager in 2014, Platinum Award Achiever (Japan Incentive Trip) in 2014, Bank Assurance Inventive Trip Achiever – Switzerland and Italy in 2015 and Elite Club Achiever in 2016.

Terrence has fond memories of his special relationships with his course mates and lecturers at MMU and he is pleased to still stay in touch with them.

Dato’ Nicholas Kow Eng Chuan

Nicholas Kow obtained his Bachelor of Law (Hons.) degree in 2008. He is an advocate and solicitor at a law firm he founded. Upon graduation, he chambered at Messrs Ghazi & Lim in Penang, a prestigious law firm, which retained him as an Associate at the firm in the Dispute Resolution Department.

He was then offered a place at renowned T.C. Beirne Law School at the Univesrsity of Queensland, a top 100 World Ranking university of Queensland for his Master of Law degree. His love for Intellectual Property Law made him the sole achiever of a High Distinction in the area of Intellectual Property Law. He obtained a Distinction in the areas Civil Litigation, Mediation and Expert Evidence, respectively.

Nicholas Kow’s area of practice focuses primarily in general litigation, coupled with a variety of other areas including disputes arising under sale of goods, partnerships, company law, commercial law, contract law, medical negligence, intellectual property, construction, bankruptcy and agency law.

Tan Kim Hui, obtained a First Class Honours Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons.) (Artificial Intelligence) in 2015. He is currently a Microsoft Services Executive at Petronas Group ICT.

During his time at MMU, Tan was actively involved in a variety of activities. He was the Event Coordinator for Windows Apps Development Competition in 2014, which was an event designed to give lecturers and students the basic knowledge in developing Windows or Phone applications. Tan won numerous awards during his student days – the Best Innovation Award on Object Recognition POS System at the 2013 InnoServe Contest in Taiwan, Winner for IT Professional Section at the Microsoft Imagine Cup Malaysia in 2014 and the Gold Award for Offline Speech Recognition Navigation Mobile App at the 2015 World Invention Innovation Contest, Korea.

Jorah Ramlan graduated in 2009 with a PhD in Economics. She is now the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia, an autonomous, non-profit research organisation.

Jorah was involved in numerous projects by government agencies and regional and international organisations. She was a policy advisor, both directly and indirectly, on national, regional and global issues, and a national secretariat/partner for the World Economic Forum on Doing Business in Malaysia, Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, Network of East Asia Think Tanks (NEAT), and Malaysia National Council for Pacific Economic Cooperation.

She assumes numerous roles, namely, the Director of Ramlah Pointon Consultus Sdn. Bhd., a consultant at RamlahPointon Strategy and Policy Consultants, Vice President of Malaysian Economic Association and an Executive Council Member of Women Graduates Association Malaysia.

Wan Murdani Mohamad obtained his MBA degree in 2011. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia and is currently a member of the senior management team as the Director of Digital Enablement Division at Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). He also serves as a Member of Kelantan State ICT Council.

Wan Murdani started his career with Time dotCom in 1995 as a Telecommunication Engineer and later assumed the post of a Manager in the Transmission Department until 2001. He joined MDEC in 2001, where his primary responsibilities included strategy and planning of telecommunication and broadband services within the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) areas. It also include access of MSC flagships broadband, connectivity requirements of MSC-status companies and engagement of ICT stakeholders. Under the fellowship of the previous Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia, Wan Murdani represented the government of Malaysia as the Vice Chairman of Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Study Group for two terms from 2002 to 2007. He successfully led deliberations and dialogues on ICT Users sector at the Asia Pacific region.

Dr. Eddy Chong Siong Choy

“I’ve had only several of the proudest moments in life, many of which were attached to MMU. This fine institution confers me not just degrees but hopes and dreams to excel in life. I’ve the least doubt that MMU’s list of most wanted will grow thicker and thicker, surpassing the Oxford Dictionary in no time!”

Eddy Chong Siong Choy completwd hIs academic cycle in MMU – Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons,) (Management with Multimedia) in 1999, Master of Philosophy (Management) in 2001 and Ph.D. in Management in 2005. Eddy has been the Director of Accreditation at the Finance Accreditation Agency Malaysia since January 2013. Prior to this, he was a Professor and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research at Linton University College.

Being an academic, Eddy actively participated in research and collaborations. He has published international refereed journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He is also an Editorial Board member of several refereed journals and has been serving as a Programmme Committee member for several international conferences. Eddy has been serving the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) as a panel member since 2009. He was recently appointed to chair the Panel of Experts for the development of minimum standards for Business Studies programmes and a panel for admission through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

Amat Taap Manshor received his Ph.D. in Management in 2002. He is also the holder and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD), UK and an Accredited Competency Professional (ACP) of the Institute of Leadership & Management, UK. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer at the Finance Accreditation Agency.

He has over 20 years of experience in human resources management, talent development and education. He has been involved in designing, developing and delivering various HR intervention initiatives, educational and professional training programmes. He had served as the Senior Director at the Asian Institute of Finance. He was also a Dean/HR Consultant at the Business School, Management & Science University, and at the Faculty of Business & Law, Multimedia University.

Dr. Niza Adila Hamzah

Niza Adila Hamzah obtained her MBA (Multimedia Finance) in 2002. In 2011, she completed her Ph.D. in Creative Multimedia. She is currently employed by PETRONAS and work on Mass Collaboration & Network, Knowledge Management (KM).

She has gained a wealth of experience in strategising, planning and executing knowledge management including risk management, benchmarking, process improvement, organisational learning, leadership, performance management and KM systems for different organisations – oil and gas companies, multinational corporations, government agencies, academic institutions.

In 2014, she presented a conference paper entitled “Using Communities of Practice (CoP) to Complete the Virtuous Cycle of Improvement” at the American Productivity and Quality Centre (APQC), Knowledge Management Conference, in Houston, Texas. In 2015, she led more than 80 Communities of Practices (CoPs), contributing to cost and time saving in hydrocarbon production worth RM1.2 billion at PETRONAS.

Logeswaran received his Master of Engineering Science in 2000 and his Ph.D. in Engineering in 2006. He is currently a Professor and Dean of Graduate Studies at Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia and an Adjunct Professor at MMU.

His research interest includes medical image processing, neural networks, data compression, natural user interfaces, sustainable/green technology and big data analytics.

Dr. Logeswaran began his career in 1997 as a Tutor at MMU. Since then, he has served in several academic positions including Assistant Professor at Soongsil University, Korea, and Professor and Dean at Nilai University, Malaysia.

Dr. Lee Meng Chuan

“In my opinion, one of the best times of my life is spent on exploring and learning in the realms of microelectronics in Faculty of Engineering, MMU. It is indeed a haven for exchanging innovative ideas, delving into the frontier of knowledge and connecting with awesome people. The education in MMU has helped to shape who I am today and I still believe MMU is one of the best universities in Malaysia.”

Lee Meng Chuan graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) Electronics majoring in Computer. He obtained both his Master of Engineering degree in Microelectronics in 2012, and his Ph.D. in 2015 at MMU.

During the 2015 convocation, He was awarded the Best Ph.D. Engineering Thesis. In the same year, his contribution in the semiconductor engineering field earned him an award as the Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (SMIEEE). Dr. Lee is now a Quality and Reliability Engineer at Intel. He is responsible for developing new reliability stresses for new products, as part of Design for Reliability road map.

Janson Luke Ong Wai Kit graduated in 2011 with Master of Science (Information Technology). He is currently a Director IT, Head of IT Design, Sales & Analytics (DSA) in Global Operations Centre (GOC), Infineon Technologies Melaka. He leads and manages the IT DSA department supporting in GOC Business Intelligence and Analytics, GOC Information Management and GOC Sales.

Janson has vast experience in his field of work and among his achievements are setting up an IT GOC, designing university programme and government training grants and managing effective IT Middleware projects. Janson sees team work as his achievement in life. He is extremely happy working with excellent employer, employee and peers whom have made his life a successful one.

Mr. Ko Chuan Zhen obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Electrical in 2008 from the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University. He is now the Group CEO & Co-Founder of Plus Xnergy Holdings Sdn Bhd. As Group CEO and co-founder, Ko Chuan Zhen sets the group’s direction and strategy, ensuring that they are executed with focus on satisfactory results. Combined with leadership, passion and in-depth knowledge in clean energy, his contributions have driven Plus Xnergy Group to become an industry leader and motivate a passionate and reliable team determined to achieve company’s mission and vision.

Ko was awarded Ernst and Young’s Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 and listed by Gen. T List 2020 for the category of “Engineering, Manufacturing and Energy,” list by Tatler Asia that recognises 400 young entrepreneur leaders who are shaping Asia’s future.
