On 26 September 2017, Dr Mardeni Roslee from Faculty of Engineering (FOE) has made MMU and Malaysia (IEEE) proud when he received an international prestige award from Vehicular Technology Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at 2017 IEEE 86th VTC2017-Fall Conference, Toronto, Canada.

He is also dynamically involved as the Executive Committee and Programme Coordinator for IEEE Malaysia Comsoc/VTS Joint Chapters. The prestige award was presented by Prof. Gordon Stuber, Awards Chair, from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA USA and Prof. Javier Gozalves, VTS President, from Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Spain. Dr Mardeni was the only recipient from Malaysia and Asia region despite many participations were from USA, Canada, Spain, United Kingdom, Portugal, Taiwan and many more.

The IEEE Malaysia Joint Chapters made their convergence through the Communication Society / Vehicular Technology Society (Comsoc/VTS) including another FOE researcher, Mr Khairul Anuar.

The prestige award recognises the highest excellence in activities involved as well as an outstanding contribution in furthering the Engineering society’s objectives. It includes the service to chapter membership in terms of technical and social activities; chapter membership advancement in fellow nominations and awards; and chapter membership growth which are internationally recognised.
