Recognition of Programmes by the Public Service Department (PSD)/Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA)

Recognition from PSD/JPA is necessary to enable graduates to be employed in the Public/Government sector. Without PSD/JPAs recognition, graduates can only gain employment in the private sector. In this regard, MMUs programme that have been accredited by MQA shall be forwarded to PSD/JPA by MQA itself. The list of programmes submitted by MQA will be considered in the PSD/JPAs "Jawatankuasa Tetap Penilaian dan Pengiktirafan Kelayakan (JTPPK)" which is the governments committee to decide on granting the recognition.

Evaluation is done base on the following principles:

  1. Evaluation and recognition of qualification for the purpose of appointment in the Public Service;
  2. Evaluation and recognition to be done to each qualification / academic programme;
  3. Recognition to professional qualifications are to be coordinated with the professional bodies;
  4. Qualifications are to be assessed against the standard of a similar academic program from local Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL); and
  5. The appropriate equivalency given to a particular qualification is associated to the scheme of service.
