Brief Biography on Prof. Dato' Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad
Prof. Dato' Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad was appointed as the President of Multimedia University effective January 1st, 2011. He is the 3rd MMU President after Professor Datuk Dr. Ghauth Jasmon (1996-2007) and Prof. Dr. Zaharin Yusoff (2008-2010).
Prof. Dato' Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad is a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) at University of Malaya (UM). He graduated with a Doctorate Degree in 1981 from University of Durham, England in the area of semiconductor technology and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in 1977 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. In addition, he has attended a course on Global Leadership Development Program at ICLIF, Kuala Lumpur and Harvard University. He has the honour of being elected the Fellow of the Academy of Science Malaysia and Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Physics. He was previously awarded the Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship at Cambridge University in 1987 and the Asian Development Bank Fellowship at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1993.
Prof. Dato' Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad has had a distinguished academic career spanning over 30 years and has established himself as a Professor with extensive experience in teaching, researching and leading an established university. To date, he has published over 150 articles, journals and academic papers and has successfully supervised over 30 PhD and Masters' candidates. He also holds prestigious membership in several science based organizations.
