Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) is a unit under the R&I division of Multimedia University (MMU). The centre has been established since 1st November 2015. EDC focuses on: “Entrepreneurial Acculturation”, i.e inculcating and instilling entrepreneurship values and culture among the students, staffs and alumni of MMU. The responsibility of the centre is to plan, coordinate, implement and monitor all entrepreneur development activities in the university.
EDC is responsible for the provision of:
• Awareness and education programmes to enhance appreciation of entrepreneurship within MMU.
• Entrepreneur development programmes
• Work space and support services for budding start-ups and stage funding for MMU start-ups and spin-offs.
• Financial support for startups (pre-seed and seed stages)
• Partnerships with players within the broader entrepreneurship network in Malaysia.
• MMU community initiatives through early-stage funding; MMU Start-Up Scheme and MMU Spin-Off Scheme.
The ultimate aim for EDC is creation of start-ups and spin-offs from the university’s students, staffs and alumni.
EDC plays a key role towards the realization of the MMU 3.0 i-University vision where “Championing Entrepreneurship” is one of the core thrusts of the vision.
