The Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), in collaboration with Cloud Destinations, organised an industry knowledge-sharing session titled “Cloud Security Fundamentals and Career Pathways” in a virtual setting on 12 June 2026. The event commenced with a welcoming address by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Chong Siew Chin, Deputy Dean of Student Experience and Alumni, who highlighted the importance of industry engagement in preparing students for future careers. The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of cloud security practices while exposing them to current industry expectations and emerging career opportunities in cybersecurity.

Mr. Rajesh Paraman, Vice President of Security Operations & System Operations, delivered the session and shared insights into key areas such as cloud security fundamentals, risk management, security operations, compliance requirements, and best practices for securing cloud environments. He also highlighted the growing cybersecurity landscape and guided students on potential career pathways, including industry-relevant certifications and the skills required to succeed in the field.

The programme also featured representatives from Cloud Destinations, including Mr. Srivatsa Upadhya, SVP and Country Head Malaysia; Mr. Sainath Dharmaraj, Associate Director (Security Practice); and Mr. Jeremiah Moses, Head of Marketing, Social Media and Branding. The session was led by Mr. Thinesh Ganesan as the Organising Chair, with Ms. Ang Ee Mae serving as the Master of Ceremony, while Ms. Noor Sharifah provided support in ensuring the successful execution of the programme. The session reflects the faculty’s continued commitment to strengthening industry engagement and equipping students with practical knowledge and exposure to prepare them for future careers in the digital and cybersecurity sectors.
