MMU further strengthened its global academic network through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Agreement (SEA) with Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) on 20 May 2026 in Semarang, Indonesia. The collaboration was initiated through the close relationship between the law faculties of both universities. The signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the 63rd anniversary celebration of UNISSULA’s Faculty of Law.

Representing MMU and its President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the agreements were signed by Dr. Sy. Nurleyana Wafa Binti Sy. Naguib Wafa, Director of International Collaboration and Engagement, together with UNISSULA Rector, Prof. Dr. Gunarto SH MH.

In conjunction with the event, MMU also participated in a visiting lecturer session featuring academics from MMU, Mersin University, and Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University. During the session, Dr. Sy. Nurleyana Wafa and Ms. Asmida Bt Ahmad, Deputy Dean of the Postgraduate Faculty of Law at MMU, delivered presentations on laws in Malaysia, student exchange opportunities, postgraduate programmes, and international collaboration initiatives.

The session was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Argo Victoria, who also played an instrumental role in facilitating the partnership between both universities. Earlier in April, UNISSULA welcomed Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasbollah bin Mat Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Dr. Thong Li Wah, Deputy Director of International Collaboration and Engagement at MMU, for a series of guest lecture sessions held in conjunction with the lead-up to the 63rd anniversary celebration of UNISSULA’s Faculty of Law.

Through the signing of the MoU and SEA, it is hoped that MMU and Universitas Islam Sultan Agung will continue to expand opportunities for academic exchange and collaboration.
