In an effort to promote literacy and expand access to educational resources for underprivileged communities, students from the Faculty of Management (FOM), under the guidance of Ms. Norzarina Md Yatim, launched an initiative called the “Book Donation Programme.” This initiative began with the establishment of a donation booth at MMU Cyberjaya from December 2025 to January 2026. Students were encouraged to contribute books of various genres and conditions.
Over several days, a substantial number of books were collected and systematically sorted by age group, subject area, and usability. Damaged or duplicate books were set aside for recycling, while suitable materials were carefully packed into clearly labelled boxes for distribution. Dedicated committees within the organising team oversaw logistics, documentation, safety procedures, and overall coordination, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow throughout the programme.
Following the collection and sorting phases, the books were prepared for distribution through partner organisations, namely Dignity for Children Foundation, Buku Jalanan, and Books on the Move Library. These partners played a vital role in delivering the donated reading materials to B40 communities, thereby enhancing access to learning opportunities.
Beyond its social impact, the programme provided meaningful hands-on experience for the organising team in teamwork, planning, and sustainable practices. Overall, the initiative fostered a culture of sharing, strengthened community engagement, and heightened awareness of the importance of educational support and social responsibility.
