On 9 July 2025, MMU through its Centre for Lifelong Learning and Educational Content Development (LEAD), welcomed a benchmarking visit from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) at the Cyberjaya campus. The visit formed part of UKM’s initiative to gather insights and best practices in the development, implementation, and strategic positioning of micro-credential offerings.

The session served as a valuable platform for the mutual exchange of ideas, discussion of challenges, and sharing of institutional approaches aligned with national policies and global trends in flexible learning. The UKM delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ezarina Zakaria, Deputy Director (Curriculum Development) of the Centre for Teaching and Curriculum Development (Pengajaran-UKM).

The visit commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Tenku Putri Norishah binti Tenku Shariman, Director of LEAD, followed by a presentation highlighting MMU’s micro-credential ecosystem. Key areas of discussion included policy and governance, the design and development of micro-credentials, platform and technology adoption, as well as assessment and accreditation frameworks. Both institutions also explored opportunities for future collaboration, including joint development of micro-credentials and cross-institutional sharing of content and expertise.

The benchmarking visit was a productive engagement that fostered meaningful dialogue and strengthened ties between both institutions. MMU appreciates the opportunity to share its journey and looks forward to continued collaboration with UKM and other universities in advancing micro-credentials as a catalyst for lifelong learning and future-ready education.
