MMU Press Strengthens Journal Records and Metadata Through MySitasi Workshop

MMU Press recently organised the MySitasi Journal Records and Metadata Enhancement Workshop, held on 29 and 30 July 2026 at the Cyberjaya and Melaka campuses. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Mohd Farhanulhakim Bin Mohd Razip Wee, Research Fellow at the Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and also a member of the MyCite Technical Committee.

Although all MMU Press journals are presently indexed in MyCite, sustaining this recognition requires continuous attention to metadata quality and accuracy. This includes ensuring that editorial information, publication schedules, and article metadata are updated accurately and in a timely manner within MySitasi. Such records support the long-term accessibility, discoverability, and quality of journal information.

The workshop was attended by the editors, librarians and academic staff involved in MMU Press journals. Participants reviewed the journal records and metadata status of IJCM, IJOMFA, and JIWE at the Cyberjaya campus, as well as AJLP, IPBSS, IJORAS, JCLC, and JETAP at the Melaka campus. Several hands-on review sessions and guided discussions enabled participants to review and enhance their journal records, article deposits, and metadata to better align with MySitasi and MyCite requirements.

This workshop reflects MMU Press’s ongoing commitment to strengthening journal governance and improving metadata quality. These continuous improvement efforts not only support the sustainability of MyCite indexing but also contribute to broader efforts to strengthen journal quality and to prepare for future submissions to international indexing databases, including Scopus and Web of Science (WoS).
