A Knowledge Transfer Programme entitled “Startup Ready: Essential Skills for Aspiring Entrepreneurs”, organised by the Faculty of Business (FOB), was conducted for students of Sekolah Menengah Sains Datuk Setia Abdul Ghani Ali (SAGA), Alor Gajah, Melaka, on 13 August 2026. The second batch of the programme aimed to introduce students to fundamental business concepts while developing essential skills relevant to entrepreneurship and the future workplace.
The programme adopted an interactive and experiential learning approach, with students taking part in group discussions, brainstorming sessions, educational games, business simulations and presentations. These activities encouraged students to apply basic entrepreneurial concepts in a practical setting while developing competencies such as creativity, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving and financial literacy.
A key feature of the programme was the direct involvement of MMU academics in facilitating the learning activities, providing students with opportunities to connect theoretical knowledge with practical entrepreneurial applications. Through the hands-on sessions, students were encouraged to develop and present their ideas while gaining greater awareness of innovation, ethical decision-making and the fundamentals of starting a business.
The programme was led by Ms. Haniza Hashim and supported by Ms. Anushia A/P Chelvarayan, Ms. Shadia Suhaimi, Ms. Hazlaili Hashim, Ms. Siti Nurul Huda Mohd, Dr. Yeo Sook Fern and Ms. Nur Baiti Shafee. The programme was also supported by the SAGA school management and teachers, including Mr. Shafian Bin Ishak, Principal of SAGA, Mr. Amin Bin Zainudin, Ms. Noorhayati, and Ms. Zulindawati, Senior Assistant of Administration, SAGA. Their involvement reflected the continued collaboration between MMU and SAGA in supporting entrepreneurship education and community development.
Through initiatives such as the KTP, MMU continues to extend its academic expertise beyond the university setting and create opportunities for knowledge exchange with the wider community. The programme also reflects MMU’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking and future-ready skills among young learners through meaningful university–school engagement.
