On 22 August 2026, MMU Melaka campus had the honour of hosting the 6th Tzu Chi PaGamO Environmental Protection and Disaster Preparedness Education E-Sports Competition – Melaka State Finals. Organised by the Tzu Chi Foundation Melaka Branch, the competition brought together hundreds of participants for an engaging blend of digital learning, e-sports and sustainability education.
The event was graced by YB Tuan Adam Adli bin Abd Halim, Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia and Member of Parliament for Hang Tuah Jaya, who delivered the closing remarks. The closing ceremony was also attended by Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin Ismail, Director of Melaka Campus.
PaGamO is a game-based digital learning platform that combines education and technology through interactive and challenging games. Beyond testing participants’ knowledge and learning abilities, the competition provided an avenue for participants to explore important issues, including environmental protection, climate change, disaster risk reduction and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year’s competition featured Primary School, Secondary School and Adult categories for participants aged 18 and above. A total of 1,402 participants registered for the online preliminary round, with 456 participants advancing to the Melaka State Finals, of whom 418 took part in the competition.
Adding to the programme was the “Sustainability Exploration Carnival”, which featured interactive activities, educational exhibitions and knowledge-sharing sessions. The carnival provided an opportunity for students, teachers, parents and members of the public to learn more about environmental protection and sustainable living.
The carnival brought together various organisations and initiatives, including Eko Enzim Malaysia, Malaysia Nature Society (Negeri Sembilan and Melaka branches), FE Green PET (M) Sdn. Bhd., Befrienders Melaka, MalaysiaParacord, Green Loop Initiative (SMK St. David), Tzu Chi Upcycling and Tzu Chi SDG Game Stations. Nestlé also supported the event by sponsoring 1,500 cups of Milo for participants and visitors.
Following the State Finals, the Top 50 participants from both the Primary School and Secondary School categories, together with the Top 10 participants from the Adult category, will advance to the National Level Competition, scheduled to take place in Muar on 12 September 2026.
