On 22 August 2026, the Faculty of Management (FOM) successfully initiated a community sustainability engagement program through participation in the SELKitar Volunteering Programme, an environmental awareness initiative organised in collaboration with KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) and local stakeholders. A total of 22 students from the Faculty of Management (FOM), Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), and Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC) took part in the program.
The volunteering activity aimed to promote environmental responsibility and recycling awareness among local communities through the SELKitar Door-to-Door Recycling Collection and Awareness Campaign. Students actively contributed by assisting in community outreach efforts and supporting the dissemination of information on proper waste segregation and recycling practices.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Madam Nor Hazleza Mohamad, who served as the lecturer-in-charge. Through this initiative, students gained valuable experiential learning opportunities while contributing to the promotion of sustainable living practices within the Sepang community.
Participation in the SELKitar Volunteering Program provided students with meaningful exposure to industry and community engagement, strengthened teamwork and communication skills, and reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship. The initiative also aligns with the university’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to responsible consumption, sustainable communities, and environmental conservation.
FOM extends its appreciation to KDEB Waste Management and all participating students for their commitment and enthusiasm in making this community service initiative a success. Their collective efforts reflect the university’s dedication to nurturing socially responsible graduates who contribute positively to society and the environment.
