As part of Multimedia University’s (MMU) ongoing Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) 2025 initiative, the Learning Institute for Empowerment (LiFE) continues its mission to bridge the digital divide, expanding its outreach to the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. On 2 and 3 July 2025, the MMU KTP team successfully conducted a series of Digital Educational Tools Workshops at SMK Zainab 2 and SMK Bandar Kuala Krai, both located in Kelantan.
The programme was led by YM Tengku Shahraniza Tengku Abdul Jalal from LiFE under the Centre of Excellence (COE) for Business Communication and Innovation, and was fully supported by Ms. Raeidah Ariff (LiFE, COE for Communication, Language and Culture) and Ms. Miza Izwanis Mangsor (Faculty of Applied Communication, COE for Communication, Language and Culture).
This KTP initiative aimed to empower local educators through hands-on exposure to practical and innovative digital tools designed to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement. Participants explored three key applications: Canva, which helped them create creative and visually compelling teaching materials; Padlet, which facilitated real-time interaction and collaborative learning; and CapCut, which enabled them to produce short, engaging educational videos.
The workshops emphasised not only the technical skills required for these tools but also their pedagogical integration, addressing classroom needs such as differentiated instruction, student engagement, and workflow efficiency.
Over 80 teachers participated in these sessions, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm and motivation. Many educators appreciated the opportunity to acquire tools they could immediately apply in their teaching practice. The workshops’ practical, easy-to-follow structure and the team’s supportive, inspiring facilitation made the sessions both impactful and enjoyable. Several teachers also expressed interest in further exploring digital innovations and requested follow-up sessions in the future.
This East Coast outreach marks another significant milestone in MMU’s KTP 2025 journey and reflects the university’s steadfast commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Furthermore, this initiative aligns closely with MMU’s dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) played an instrumental role in facilitating this programme, supporting the team in planning, outreach, and ensuring that MMU’s expertise and resources effectively translate into meaningful societal impact. By delivering capacity-building programmes directly to schools in underserved communities, MMU continues to serve as a catalyst for inclusive education, digital transformation, and national development.
