On 17th July 2022, MMU held the Outstanding Improvement Awards 2022 ceremony at the Faculty of Management’s lecture hall, where 91 secondary school students from various schools across the peninsula received acknowledgement from MMU for the vast improvements they’ve made when receiving their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results.
The event was attended by our President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, as well as Mr. Zambri Pawanchik, Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Admission and Recruitment (SMART), and Madam Nalini R.S. Pragasam, Director of Student Recruitment and Admission Department (SRAD). All of the students were recommended by their respective schools, not just for doing well in their SPM, but for having shown immense improvements as compared to their earlier results. Each student received a certificate of achievement, as well as a small amount of cash.
Aside from these gratuities, the students and their parents were given the opportunity to attend MMU’s Open Day, which was held in the nearby Dewan Tun Canselor. They were then briefed about the current job market, as well as the skills demanded by the various sectors. It was an eye-opener for them, since they were presented with the reality of the present situation, as well as methods on how to choose their careers for the long run.
Furthermore, Mr. Muhammad Nizam Zainudin, Senior Lecturer from the Faculty of Management (FOM), gave them a brief presentation about entrepreneurship. He highlighted that entrepreneurship didn’t have to mean going into business, but rather, about the thinking processes that one undertakes in solving problems. It was a short and informative event, and hopefully a very useful one for all the students and their parents.
