The Faculty of Management (FOM) organised a Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) seminar on taxation for members of the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) community in Kampung Labuh, Banting, Selangor, on 30 September 2026. The seminar aimed to help micro-entrepreneurs better understand their tax responsibilities, particularly in declaring income from their businesses. Most of the participants have business income subject to individual income tax under Section 4(a) of the Income Tax Act 1967.
Led by Project Leader Dr Noor Ashikin Mohd Rom, the seminar covered key aspects of tax filing, including the use of Form B, declaration of business income, allowable business expenses, tax computation and payment. Participants also took part in a hands-on session on MyTax and e-Filing, where they were guided through the process of managing their tax matters and submitting their tax returns online. The session also covered the importance of keeping proper business and tax records for seven years and meeting the relevant tax deadlines.
The seminar was delivered by Mdm Rapiah Mohd Zaini, who served as the main speaker and facilitator. Drawing on her experience in taxation, she guided participants through the practical aspects of managing their tax obligations. The project was also supported by Mdm Zarehan Selamat, Mdm Azleen Shabrina Mohd Nor and Dr Hasliza Hassan. The programme provided FOM with an opportunity to share its knowledge and expertise with the local community, particularly micro-entrepreneurs who manage their own business and tax matters.
