A two-week international entrepreneurship programme, the Sustainability Innovation Challenge (SIC) 2026, concluded on 25 September 2026. Gracing the closing ceremony was Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and Chief Executive Officer of MMU, held at TMR&D, Cyberjaya.

The programme gathered students from MMU, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), providing a platform for students to explore real-world industry challenges through design thinking, ideation, prototyping, mentoring and pitching. Working in cross-university teams, participants developed solutions while gaining hands-on experience in the entrepreneurship process.

A key part of SIC 2026 was the industry challenge presented by Ts. Mike Fong Yit Meng, CEO and Founder of PasarKita Technology Sdn Bhd and an MMU alumnus. Participants also visited PasarKita Technology and took part in workshops and mentoring sessions with industry practitioners and academic experts to develop and refine their ideas.

On the final day, five teams presented their solutions to a panel of judges comprising Ts. Mike Fong Yit Meng; Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President, Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (VP SEED), MMU; and Dr. Ika Yanuarti, S.E., M.S.F, CSA, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Employability, and Entrepreneurship, UMN.

Team 4tastic 4orever, comprising students from MMU and UMN, emerged as the Champion with their project, Hand in Hand, winning the RM1,000 prize sponsored by Ts. Mike Fong Yit Meng. The Most Dynamic Team Award went to Team Triad for their project, Kedai Partner, which received a RM500 prize sponsored by Skystar Ventures.

The programme adopted the 3H framework of Hacker, Hipster and Hustler, which encouraged participants to bring together different strengths in technical skills, creativity, user understanding, business thinking and execution. The cross-university team structure also allowed students to exchange ideas and perspectives while working towards a common goal.

For MMU participants, SIC 2026 also contributed to their entrepreneurial development journey, with each student receiving 20 eCadet or iCadet points for their participation. The programme gave students practical experience in developing and presenting solutions to real-world challenges while working with peers from different institutions and backgrounds. It also provided an avenue for MMU to strengthen its collaboration with UMN, UniKL and industry partners through entrepreneurship and innovation activities.

Well done!
