FOB Equips Future Graduates with AI Skills at CIEF’26

The Faculty of Business (FOB) conducted an interactive workshop titled From Classroom to Workplace: AI Skills You Need for approximately 130 final-year students during the Career, Industrial and Entrepreneurship Festival (CIEF’26), held at Politeknik Mersing, Johor, from 30 to 31 July 2026.

Representing the faculty were Madam Teo Kim Mui and Miss Cheryl Chan, who also engaged with students throughout the festival to introduce MMU’s academic programmes and connect with prospective learners.

The 90-minute workshop brought together students from the Diploma in Business Studies and Diploma in Secretarial Science programmes to explore the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic and professional settings. Participants were introduced to a range of AI tools while learning essential skills such as effective prompting, critical thinking, and the responsible use of AI technologies to enhance productivity and problem-solving.

To reinforce their learning, students worked in groups to develop creative slogans using the AI tools introduced during the workshop. Each group presented its ideas, explained the tools used, and demonstrated the prompting techniques that shaped their final output. The activity encouraged collaboration, creativity, and critical evaluation, with participants voting to select the two most outstanding presentations.

The workshop received encouraging participation, with students actively engaging in discussions and hands-on activities throughout the session. Beyond introducing AI tools, the programme highlighted the importance of applying technology thoughtfully and responsibly in response to the changing needs of the workplace.

Their participation in CIEF’26 reflects the university’s continued commitment to sharing knowledge beyond the campus, strengthening engagement with educational institutions, and equipping students with practical skills that support their academic and professional development.
