The Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA) recently hosted exclusive sneak peek screenings of two upcoming Malaysian films, Khadam and Kata Hati, at the MMU Cinema, Cyberjaya. The events brought together students, lecturers, alumni, and industry practitioners, providing attendees with the opportunity to experience the films ahead of their official releases while celebrating Malaysian storytelling and filmmaking.
Following the screenings, participants attended engaging sharing sessions featuring notable industry professionals. The Khadam session featured director Shamyl Othman, executive producer Ahmad Izham Omar, and writer Fariza Azlina, while the Kata Hati session welcomed director and MMU “Permata Dunia” alumnus Nadiah Hamzah alongside actress Nia Atasha. The speakers shared valuable insights into their creative journeys, covering topics such as story development, scriptwriting, directing, production challenges, and the process of bringing a film from concept to screen.
Students actively participated in interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions, gaining firsthand exposure to the realities of the film industry. The conversations highlighted the importance of perseverance, collaboration, and creative vision in producing meaningful cinematic works, while also offering practical perspectives on career pathways within Malaysia’s creative sector. Attendees benefited from direct engagement with practitioners who continue to shape the local film landscape.
These programmes reflect FCA’s ongoing commitment to bridging academia and industry through experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
