An engaging guest lecture titled “Social Engineering and Social Media Scams: Trends, Issues, and Challenges” was delivered by Dr. Rajiv Dharma Mangruwa from Telkom University, Indonesia, in April 2026.

The session began with an opening address by Dr. Sumendra Yogarayan, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and Collaborations), and aimed to enhance students’ understanding of current cybersecurity threats, particularly in the areas of social engineering and online scams.

Participants gained valuable insights into real-world tactics used by cybercriminals, as well as the challenges involved in detecting and preventing such attacks in today’s increasingly digital environment. The session was coordinated by Mr. Teo Chuan Chin, with support from Dr. Neo Han Foon, Mr. Norhafizi Norkhalid, and Mr. Mohamad Firdaus Ghazali.

Programmes such as this continue to broaden students’ awareness of emerging cybersecurity risks while strengthening their understanding of critical issues in the digital landscape.
