Industrial Talk Equips Students for AI-Driven Finance Careers

The Faculty of Business (FOB), in collaboration with MMU Career Connect Melaka, organised an industrial talk titled “Surviving AI: Secrets for Accountants” on 22 April 2026 at Persada Permata Dunia Hall, MMU Melaka Campus.

The session featured MMU alumnus Mr. Gan Chee Kian (Ryan), Class of 2002 and Asia Pacific Finance Service Delivery Director of Estée Lauder Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. He shared insights on how artificial intelligence is transforming the accounting and finance profession, as well as the key skills needed for graduates to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving digital workplace.

The talk drew a strong turnout of around 300 students, who actively engaged throughout the session and gained valuable exposure to industry expectations, career pathways, and practical strategies for adapting to AI-driven changes in the finance sector.

Also present was Dr. Khair Razlan Othman, Head of the Centre for Alumni, further underscoring MMU’s strong alumni engagement and support in connecting graduates with current students. The programme highlighted the value of the alumni network, with Mr. Gan’s sharing serving as an inspiring example of career progression from MMU graduate to regional industry leader. The distribution of exclusive Estée Lauder products further enhanced student engagement and programme experience.

Overall, the session provided meaningful industry exposure while reinforcing MMU’s commitment to future-ready learning and the role of its alumni in guiding and inspiring the next generation of professionals.
