On 24 April 2026, industry leaders and academic staff from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) convened for the first Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) Meeting. The session brought together ten IAP members from diverse engineering and technology sectors, representing organisations such as PETRONAS, Infineon Technologies Malaysia, Daikin Research & Development Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., TM Technology Services Sdn. Bhd., MEG Consult Sdn. Bhd., AD Consultants (M) Sdn. Bhd., Prosper Capital Holdings Sdn. Bhd., BPE Synergy Engineering Sdn. Bhd., Inter Syspro Sdn. FET leadership, including Ts. Dr. Yeo Boon Chin, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and Collaborations), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liew Kia Wai, Deputy Dean (Student Experience & Alumni), were also present, alongside programme coordinators and representatives from both degree and diploma programmes.
The session featured breakout discussions where IAP members provided constructive feedback on curriculum enhancement, industry alignment, and student employability. This was followed by laboratory visits, allowing industry partners to gain first-hand insights into FET’s teaching facilities and learning environment.
In addition, six industrial talks were conducted in the afternoon, attracting strong student participation. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including careers in mechanical engineering, semiconductor testing, pipeline safety regulations, construction equipment, air-conditioning systems, and smart engineering systems, delivered by representatives from leading industry organisations.
The engagement provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange between academia and industry, while reinforcing FET’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates equipped with relevant technical and professional skills.
