The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) recently welcomed a delegation from Naresuan University (NU), Thailand, consisting of 18 students and 2 administrative staff members in May 2025. Held at MMU’s Melaka campus, the visit marked another step in the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions, which began with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2017. Since then, reciprocal visits have become a tradition, promoting academic, cultural, and research exchanges.
This international mobility program provides a platform for participants to expand their networks and gain exposure to global research activities. It also offers a chance to experience local culture, traditions, and daily life in Malaysia. A key highlight of the visit was a workshop on Malaysian traditions and culture. Participants explored local customs through traditional games, clothing, food, and language. These hands-on sessions deepened their understanding of Malaysia’s multicultural society and encouraged cultural appreciation.
Outside the campus, the group toured Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich history. They visited landmarks such as A Famosa Fortress, St. Paul’s Hill, and the Red Square, learning about the city’s colonial heritage. The delegation also visited Kuala Lumpur, exploring major sites like the Petronas Twin Towers, Batu Caves, ITEX 2025 KLCC and the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. These excursions provided insights into Malaysia’s modern and historical identity.
Overall, the program enriched participants academically and culturally, while strengthening the longstanding partnership between MMU and NU. It is hoped that this visit will lead to further collaborations in research, education, and student mobility between the two universities.
