A group of students from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) organised DyslexiSpark: A Creative Workshop in collaboration with Persatuan Dyslexia Malaysia (PDM), Ampang Branch, in September 2026.

Held as part of the Personal Social Responsibility (PSR) programme, the workshop brought together 60 children aged six to 13, guided by nine teachers. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Yong Chyn Chye from the Learning Institute for Empowerment (LIfE) and advised by Ts. Siti Iradah Ismail from FCM.

The workshop featured creative activities across three stations, where the children were encouraged to express their ideas, explore their imagination and interact with the student volunteers. The activities also gave the volunteers an opportunity to engage with the children in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Following the workshop, the PSR student volunteers visited PDM Ampang’s learning environment and facilities and took part in a sharing session by Ms. Fatin Nor Roslan on teaching and supporting children with dyslexia. The students also viewed the children’s artwork and gained further insight into their learning environment.

Through the activity, FCM students gained hands-on experience in community engagement while learning more about inclusive learning and the importance of creating space for children to express themselves in their own ways.
