On 10 September 2026, students from the Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC) gained insights into Malaysia’s changing media landscape from Media Prima Berhad Group Chairman, Datuk Seri (Dr) Syed Hussian Syed Junid, during the CEO@Faculty sharing session held at the Cyberjaya campus. Prior to the session, MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, welcomed Datuk Seri (Dr) Syed Hussian and the Media Prima delegation at his office.

Datuk Seri (Dr) Syed Hussian, who has served as Media Prima’s Group Chairman since 2019, shared his experience in the media industry, including perspectives on leadership and the need to remain adaptable as technology and audience behaviour continue to shape the industry.

The session gave students a closer look at the realities of working in the media industry beyond the classroom, particularly as traditional media continues to evolve alongside digital platforms, social media and emerging technologies. He also highlighted the importance of communication skills, critical thinking, creativity and adaptability in preparing for an increasingly competitive job market.

Students had the opportunity to engage directly with Datuk Seri (Dr) Syed Hussian during a question-and-answer session, raising questions on the future of media, career opportunities, leadership and the changing expectations of communication professionals. The discussion also gave students a better understanding of the range of opportunities within the media industry, which spans television, print, radio, digital media, out-of-home advertising and content production.

Held as part of the Professional Image and Etiquette subject, coordinated by Datin Noorlindah Hassan, the session provided students with an opportunity to connect their classroom learning with industry experience. Prof. Ir. Dr Wong Hin Yong, Vice President of Academic and Innovative Learning (AIR), also attended the session and presented a token of appreciation to Datuk Seri (Dr) Syed Hussian. The engagement also gave students a better understanding of the professional expectations and skills needed as they prepare to enter the communication and media industry.
