Students from the Faculty of Business (FOB) gained hands-on experience in planning and managing events through two community engagement activities held as part of the Event Management subject, with the support and guidance of their lecturers.
The activities provided students with opportunities to apply what they learned in class while engaging children through educational and creative activities as part of the faculty’s University Social Responsibility (USR) initiatives. On 9 September 2026, the students organised the Jayden’s Story Quest Roadshow, an English-language educational game programme focused on storytelling and language development.
The programme involved children aged five to six from EFL Educare, Melaka, and Tadika Tepuk Amai Amain, Seremban, reaching almost 60 participants. Through storytelling activities and game-based learning, the children were encouraged to develop their English language skills, creativity and confidence in expressing themselves. The roadshow also gave the students practical experience in coordinating educational activities, managing participants and facilitating the programme. The activity was facilitated by Ms Vinothini Apoo, Ms Ummu Umairah Mohd Yunus, Ms Cheryl Chan and Ms Fathiah Athirah Haris.
On 12 September 2026, the students also organised a colouring contest themed “Satu Bangsa, Satu Negara – Malaysia MADANI” for children aged four to six. The activity encouraged the children to express their creativity while exploring themes of unity, harmony and togetherness. For the student organisers, the contest provided an opportunity to put their event management knowledge into practice through programme coordination, participant engagement and activity management. The event was led by Nadhrah Abu Hassan and Vincent Chan.
Through these activities, the students gained practical experience in planning and conducting events while engaging with the wider community. The programmes also complemented classroom learning by giving students the opportunity to develop their organisational, communication and teamwork skills in a real event setting.
