The Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), in collaboration with the Centre for Alumni (CfA), brought industry perspectives on Agile and Scrum to students through a talk featuring Ms. Wang Su Mei, a 2002 FIST graduate and experienced IT professional, held on 11 September 2026 at MMU Melaka.

Titled From Developer to Scrum Master: My Journey Through 20 Years of IT Transformation, Ms. Wang shared her career journey from Developer to IT Project Manager, Scrum Master and Agile Coach, giving students a closer look at how roles and practices in the IT industry have evolved over the years.

She also elaborated how Agile principles can be applied through the Scrum framework in software development, introducing students to key Scrum roles and practices. Beyond the technical aspects, Ms. Wang highlighted the importance of adaptability, collaboration, continuous improvement and delivering value incrementally in navigating a career in the IT industry.

The session also featured interactive sharing and a quiz, allowing students to engage directly with the speaker while reinforcing their understanding of the concepts discussed. The initiative provided students with an opportunity to learn from an alumnus with extensive industry experience while strengthening the connection between FIST, its alumni and the IT industry.
