FOL Lecturer Selected as Senior Research Fellow for Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship 2026–2027

Ms. Lahveenya Panchalingam, a lecturer from the Faculty of Law (FOL), has been selected as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the prestigious Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship (NJYGRF) 2026–2027 at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), India, further strengthening the university’s international research presence.

The appointment marks Ms. Panchalingam’s second consecutive selection for the fellowship, having previously been part of the 2025–2026 cohort in July 2026. Her continued participation reflects the international recognition of her research expertise and her growing contributions to legal scholarship on the global stage.

The NJYGRF, established in honour of JGU Chancellor Mr. Naveen Jindal, is an international research initiative that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, global knowledge exchange, and long-term academic partnerships. Led by JGU’s Office of Institutional Advancement and Strategic Global Engagement (IASGE), under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Raj Kumar and Prof. Padmanabha Ramanujam, Dean of Academic Governance and Student Life, the programme has continued to expand its international reach. The 2026–2027 cohort welcomes nearly 130 fellows from 26 countries and more than 70 universities, making it the largest in the fellowship’s history.

Ms. Panchalingam’s research focuses on Sports Law and Sports Medicine, with particular emphasis on the legitimacy of Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs) in anti-doping regulations for para-athletes in Malaysia. Her work aims to contribute to the development of more equitable legal and regulatory frameworks that support fairness and inclusivity in sports.

Her appointment not only reflects her dedication to research excellence but also reinforces MMU’s commitment to advancing impactful research, fostering international academic collaboration, and enhancing the university’s global research profile through active engagement with leading institutions worldwide.
