MMU hosted Hari Inovasi Kebangsaan @ Melaka 2026 (HIK@M2026), a national-level innovation showcase featuring 200 selected projects from 370 submissions received nationwide. The programme was officially launched by YB Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, Melaka State Executive Councillor (Exco) for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communication, representing YAB Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf bin Yusoh, Chief Minister of Melaka, at MMU Melaka Campus on 6 August 2026, who also presented the prizes to the winners for different categories.

Representing MMU at the event was Prof. Ts. Dr. Lau Siong Hoe, Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement and Touchpoint, together with Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin Ismail, Director of Melaka Campus.  As the host university, MMU through its Knowledge & Technology Transfer (KTT)  organised HIK@M2026 in collaboration with the Melaka State Government, with the Research, Innovation, Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship Centre (RICE Melaka@UTeM) as co-organiser. With the theme “Warga Digital: Nadi Generasi Inovatif”, the programme highlights the role of innovation and digital capabilities in shaping future-ready communities.

Themed around digital transformation, HIK@M2026 provides a platform for innovators to showcase their ideas, exchange knowledge and explore potential collaborations across various sectors. As a technology and creativity-driven university, MMU continues to support research, innovation, industry collaboration and community engagement initiatives.

The showcased projects feature innovations from a wide range of participants, including public and private higher learning institutions, government agencies, TVET institutions, educators, secondary schools, primary schools, Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI), preschools, industry players and organisations from across Malaysia. The diverse participation reflects the growing interest in innovation among different segments of society and provides opportunities for collaboration between academia, industry, government and communities.
