MMU Press and IPS Guide Researchers on Publishing Theses as Books

MMU Press and the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS) recently organised a workshop entitled Turn Thesis to Research Book, bringing together staff, supervisors, and postgraduate students to explore effective strategies for transforming academic theses into publishable research books on 16 July 2026.

Facilitated by Prof. Ts. Dr. Rohana Hassan and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Arni Munira Maskom from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), the workshop drew on the trainers’ extensive publishing experience to provide participants with practical guidance on adapting thesis chapters into book-ready manuscripts. The session also covered key aspects of academic publishing, including improving content structure and readability, selecting impactful book titles, and meeting scholarly publishing standards to enhance the visibility of research.

Through interactive discussions and knowledge sharing, participants gained practical techniques to refine their academic writing while exchanging ideas with fellow researchers and supervisors. The workshop reflected MMU’s commitment to strengthening research dissemination and encouraging more academics and postgraduate students to publish their scholarly work.
