The Centre for Management and Marketing Innovation (CMMI), Faculty of Business, (FOB) organised a research talk entitled “Publications: Tips & Tricks” on 13 July 2026 at the i-TRD Lab, Faculty of Business. The session was delivered by Professor T. Ramayah from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), one of Malaysia’s leading researchers with extensive experience in publishing in reputable international journals. The programme attracted academic staff and postgraduate students from across the university as part of CMMI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen research capabilities and promote excellence in scholarly publications.

During the session, Professor Ramayah shared practical insights into the academic publishing process, drawing on his experience as a researcher, author, reviewer, and editor. He emphasised that successful publication begins with quality research, including identifying a clear research problem, establishing a meaningful research gap, and designing a well-structured study. Participants also gained useful tips on preparing manuscripts, selecting suitable journals, responding to reviewers’ comments, and avoiding common mistakes that may lead to manuscript rejection.

The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where participants discussed various aspects of academic publishing and research writing. The active participation reflected the strong interest among attendees in enhancing their publication skills. Through initiatives such as this, CMMI continues to support the development of a strong research culture by equipping researchers with practical knowledge to improve the quality and impact of their scholarly work.
