FIST Academic Leads Research Workshop for Postgraduate Students in India

On 15 July 2026, postgraduate students and researchers from Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Avadi, Chennai, India, participated in a research workshop entitled “Practical Strategies for Strengthening Your Research” conducted by Ts. Dr. Sumendra Yogarayan, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and Collaborations) from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST).

Organised by the Office of International Relations in collaboration with the Office of Research Studies at Vel Tech, the workshop explored practical approaches to strengthening research quality and academic publishing. During the workshop, Ts. Dr. Sumendra shared his experience in identifying meaningful research problems, developing effective research methodologies, publishing in reputable journals, and establishing research collaborations. He also highlighted the importance of planning and maintaining consistency throughout the research process, from developing an initial idea to completing a publication.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants exchanged views on research-related challenges and sought practical advice on improving their research and publication outcomes. The workshop formed part of MMU’s ongoing academic engagement with international institutions and provided an opportunity to strengthen ties with researchers and postgraduate students at Vel Tech. It also reflected the University’s continued efforts to support research development through international collaboration.
