On 23 July 2026, MMU and Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN), Indonesia, marked a significant milestone in regional higher education collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Cyberjaya campus. The partnership reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening academic excellence, research, innovation, and talent development through long-term collaboration.
The MoU was signed by MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, and ITPLN Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Iwa Garniwa. Also present were ITPLN Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Susy Fatena Rostiyanti, Manager of International Academic Partnerships, Dr. Nadia Paramita, faculty representatives, and ITPLN representatives who joined the ceremony virtually from Indonesia.
The collaboration establishes a framework for cooperation in areas including research, joint academic programs, postgraduate education, student and staff mobility, and industry engagement. By leveraging the strengths of both universities, the partnership aims to create greater opportunities for knowledge exchange while enhancing teaching, learning, and research activities.
As a member of Malaysia’s Government-Linked Universities (GLU) network, MMU continues to expand its global engagement through strategic partnerships with reputable institutions worldwide. Likewise, ITPLN, a member of Indonesia’s Aliansi Perguruan Tinggi BUMN (APERTI BUMN), brings valuable expertise and a shared vision of producing graduates equipped to address the evolving demands of industry and society.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham highlighted that meaningful international collaborations are increasingly essential in preparing globally competent graduates, advancing impactful research, and addressing common challenges through shared expertise and innovation. He also expressed confidence that the partnership would generate lasting benefits for students, academics, and researchers from both institutions.
The ceremony concluded with both universities reaffirming their commitment to translating the MoU into impactful initiatives that will further strengthen Malaysia–Indonesia academic cooperation while contributing to the advancement of higher education and innovation in the region.
