
The Faculty of Business (FOB) successfully organised an online industrial talk entitled “SST Introduction & Recent Developments” on 6 May 2026 in collaboration with E Stream Software Sdn. Bhd.. Organised by Ms. Ng Woan Ming, the session attracted 190 diploma and degree accounting students, reflecting strong interest in industry-relevant learning. The talk aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the implementation of Sales and Service Tax (SST) in Malaysia and its impact on accounting practices and financial reporting through the use of SQL Accounting Software.
The session featured sharing by Desmond Law Hoe Yen, a Chartered Accountant and ACCA member, who introduced students to the SQL Accounting Software ecosystem and its relevance in today’s accounting profession. Meanwhile, Mandy Sow shared insights on SST compliance, SST codes, financial reporting, and practical SST applications across various industries. Students also benefited from a live demonstration of SST online forms generated through SQL Accounting Software for submission to the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN), providing valuable hands-on exposure beyond conventional classroom learning.
The two-hour session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment and a brief introduction to SQL Payroll Software and its role in Human Resource Management. Based on feedback collected, students described the session as insightful and beneficial in enhancing their understanding of SST implementation and real-world accounting practices. Through such initiatives, students are able to gain valuable industry exposure and practical insights that support their future career development in the accounting field.
