A two-day training course entitled the Qalb Entrepreneurship Discovery Programme was attended by students at the Melaka campus from 7 to 8 February 2026. The programme was organised under the MMUE/250002 Research Project, funded by the Islamic Economics Research and Innovation Fund (IERIF) and supported by Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC). It introduced participants to the Qalb-Based Entrepreneurship framework, which integrates character development and ethical decision-making into business creation.
Participants engaged in structured, hands-on sessions covering Qalb profiling, dream team formation, business idea generation and validation, pitching skills, business planning, marketing strategies, and operations management. The programme culminated in the Al-Sahat Dream Team Pitching Session, where teams presented business ideas evaluated based on the Qalb values of Wisdom, Justice, Temperance, and Courage, alongside clarity, feasibility, and impact.
The training was delivered by Dr Diyana Binti Abdul Mahad @ Abdul Hamid and Dr Mhd Louai Sarhan, together with the MMUE/250002 research team. The project members include Prof. Dr Kamarulzaman Ab. Aziz (MMU), Prof. Dr Mahazan Abdul Mutalib (Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia), Dr Mohd. Senu Bin Awang (CELPAD, International Islamic University Malaysia), Mr Mohd Radzuan Rahid (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia), Assoc. Prof. Dr Nor Azlina Binti Ab Aziz (MMU), Ms Norzarina Md Yatim (MMU), and Mr Md Mahin Uddin (MMU).
Beyond technical startup skills, the programme emphasised a shift from profit-centric thinking to purpose-led entrepreneurship, encouraging students to develop ventures that are ethical, balanced, and socially impactful. Participants who completed the programme received certificates and tokens of appreciation in recognition of their active participation. Through this initiative, MMU continues to nurture entrepreneurs who not only innovate but also uphold strong values and contribute positively to the economy and society.
