Edvinas Pukšta, an international film programmer, engaged with students from the Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA) during a Private Film Screening & Sharing Session held in January 2026 at the MMU Cinema, Cyberjaya campus.

Organised in collaboration with the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF), the session offered students rare, first-hand insights into how films are selected, positioned, and sustained within the international festival system. The discussion explored the often unseen structures behind film curation, programming decisions, and the realities filmmakers face when navigating institutional and festival frameworks.

Beyond the screening itself, the session emphasised the importance of understanding cinema as both an artistic and professional practice. Through candid sharing and practical industry perspectives, students gained a deeper appreciation of how global film ecosystems operate, reinforcing the value of industry literacy alongside creative development.
