MENTERA Secures Spot in the Nine Consortia Selected for KKP 2025

We are proud to share that the Millimeter Wave Enhancement and Terahertz Devices Research Associates (MENTERA) has been honoured with its selection as one of the nine consortia for the prestigious Research Excellence Consortium (Kluster Kecemerlangan Penyelidikan (KKP)) 2025 under the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).

Led by Multimedia University (MMU) with International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as satellite partners, MENTERA continues to advance research in millimeter-wave and terahertz technologies. The consortium’s project, headed by Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohamad Yusoff Alias from the Centre for Wireless Technology (CWT) and Director of Research Management, has been awarded RM750,000.00 under the KKP grant scheme.

The official handover ceremony for the offer letter was officiated by Prof. Zainal Amin bin Ayub, Deputy Director General of Higher Education, on 20 November 2025 at Dewan Jamuan, KPT.

The establishment of the KKP aims to strengthen cooperation among research groups in niche areas (NIC) through the development of theories, new ideas, and innovative advanced creations. The initiative supports strategic research efforts that expand the frontiers of knowledge. In addition, KKP serves as a platform to propel Centers of Excellence (CoE) in Higher Learning Institutions (IPT) toward achieving recognition as Higher Institution Centres of Excellence (HICoE) and ultimately becoming reference points in their respective niche areas.
