We are proud to share that a project from Multimedia University (MMU) titled “IPv6-Native Net5.5G Secure Campus Network for Future-Ready Smart Campus” was announced as the second prize winner at the Asia Pacific IPv6 & Net5.5G Innovation Competition 2025, in October 2025. The project was led by Dr. Navaneethan C. Arjuman, together with Ms. Zar Chi Hlaing and Mr. Vimalrich Selvam Nadarajah from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI). The award ceremony is scheduled to take place early next year.
The competition brought together top innovators, researchers, and industry experts from across the Asia Pacific region to showcase next-generation networking solutions that are shaping the future of smart connectivity.
MMU’s award-winning project introduces a fully IPv6-native smart campus network, designed to eliminate legacy IPv4 systems and enhance performance, scalability, and security. It integrates Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6), Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Deterministic Networking (DetNet), and AI-powered firewalls, creating a secure and high-performance infrastructure that supports future-ready education and research environments.
This recognition highlights MMU’s leadership in advancing digital transformation, in line with Malaysia’s IPv6 Adoption and Digital Economy Roadmap. It also reflects the university’s strong commitment to nurturing next generation networking skills, driving research excellence, and promoting sustainable smart campus innovation.
Organised by the Asia Pacific IPv6 Forum Council, the competition recognised winners from industry, academia, and the telecommunications sector, including XL Smart Indonesia, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, and JMCS Sdn. Bhd.
Dr. Navaneethan expressed his appreciation to the organisers and his team for their dedication and support throughout the project. He noted that this achievement reflects MMU’s ongoing efforts to pioneer IPv6 and Net5.5G technologies that enhance immersive, secure, and intelligent learning environments while positioning the university as a regional leader in future networking innovations.
