A group of 40 Engineering and IT undergraduates, accompanied by an academic staff member, embarked on an enriching industrial visit to Infineon Technologies Melaka in June 2025. This visit offered students a valuable opportunity to observe firsthand how core engineering concepts are implemented in a real-world manufacturing environment.

The delegation received a warm welcome from the Infineon Management team, who provided a comprehensive overview of the company’s operations. During the facility tour, students were exposed to the full spectrum of the cable manufacturing process, gaining insights into the engineering precision, quality control, and safety measures required to produce high-performance semiconductors devices.

In addition to the technical tour, students engaged in meaningful dialogues with industry professionals, learning about current trends, technological innovations, and the practical challenges faced in the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

The visit was made possible through the joint efforts of FET Engineering Society and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET)’s Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC). This initiative exemplifies MMU’s commitment to strengthening academia-industry linkages, providing students with experiential learning that enhances their industry awareness and professional preparedness. Such exposure is instrumental in equipping future engineers with the practical skills and perspectives necessary for career success in the evolving engineering landscape.
