Prof. Ts. Dr. Mardeni Roslee, a Professor from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence & Engineering (FAIE) and Chairman of the Centre for Wireless Technology, Centre for Intelligent Network, has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) 2025. The announcement was made during ASM’s 30th Annual General Meeting in April 2025, and the fellowship confers upon him the esteemed title “Professor FASc”. ASM was established under the Academy of Sciences Act 1994 and was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Sept 8 1995, who is also as Honorary Fellow in Malaysia.
The ASM Fellowship is the highest recognition bestowed by the Academy, demonstrating exceptional individual research achievements and extraordinary leadership. Prior to this, Prof. Mardeni was honoured as one of the Top Research Scientists in Malaysia (TRSM) in 2020, also by ASM, in recognition of his global contributions to research and leadership. He has received more than 100 research awards, including numerous prestigious leadership accolades both locally and internationally.
This Fellowship aims to profile Malaysia’s most distinguished scientists and leaders, positioning them as key references for scientific excellence in the country. The honour of becoming a Fellow signifies a remarkable contribution in the fields of Science, Engineering, and Technology. It is a well-deserved recognition for Prof. Mardeni, who is a renowned researcher and respected professional leader serving as a national advisor to society.
Prof. Mardeni is an active member of various professional engineering bodies in both Malaysia and the UK. For the past 15 years, he has focused his expertise on wireless communication and is considered a pioneer in the field, with recognition from countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, Romania, Australia, and many others.
As a global, merit-based science academy, the ASM Fellowship represents the elite of scientific accomplishment in the developing world.
