A total of 30 engineering students gained an opportunity to interact with industry and know more about its environment through a visit to Yakult Malaysia factory in Negeri Sembilan, recently. Organised by the Students Engineering Society (EngSoc), the session started with a briefing about the background and the business culture of Yakult Malaysia.

With over 80 years of experience in research, Yakult is committed to delivering the highest quality product such as milk drink that contains over 30 billion of the live beneficial bacteria Shirota strain. This strain is good to boost immunity and gut bacteria. Then, the session continued with a factory tour by Ms. Fatiha, Public Relations and Science, Yakult Malaysia.

During the tour, Ms. Fatiha showed the process of how the milk drink is made starting from the breeding of Yakult bacteria, culture and mixing process, filling process, bottling process, and lastly packaging process. The students were exposed to see the injection moulding machine, selector machine, and multi-shrink wrapping machine during the process. It is hoped that this visit helps the students to get more exposure to the current work condition of the industry.

The training aimed to equip future graduates with a hands-on approach to the usage of fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. This experience will help the students on what actions to be made in a real situation. The event was conducted in a controlled environment with full cooperation from FMD-Melaka, Security and OSHE departments.
