About 50 Final Year of Marketing students and lecturers from the Faculty of Business (FOB) marketing department attended an advertising and entrepreneurship talk at the MMU Melaka recently. With its theme ‘The Power of a High Value Idea’, the talk was facilitated by Mr Khairudin Rahim, CEO of Association of Accredited Advertising Agents (4As) Malaysia.

The speaker shared with the audiences on the pivotal and dynamic role that marketers and advertisers play in a firm’s success. He iterated that the role of every CEO of a corporation is primarily a Brand Communicator; and it is both an art and science of doing brand communication effectively to their various stakeholders. The marketing manager in the age of IR4.0 plays a leading role as the master brand architect empowered by AI, VR, IoT and consumer data analytics.

4As Malaysia has made a name for itself, having spearheaded many organisations in the region and across the globe for its self-regulatory standards, professionalism in advertising and breakthrough marketing campaigns. 4As Malaysia annually confers Brand Leadership awards (the money can’t buy awards) such as the Putra Brand Awards, Malaysia Effie Awards and Kancil Awards.  The event ended with the presentation of a token of appreciation to Mr Khairudin by the FOB marketing department.

The faculty aspires to continue collaborating in more fronts with 4As Malaysia, which includes incorporating learning modules from the International Practitioners of Advertising (IPA) UK; IPA Foundation Certificate modules into marketing modules in MMU to ensure the most recent issues of the industry are incorporated into MMU’s marketing degree program.
