Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of Multimedia University (MMU), was conferred the title of Honorary Professor by Henan University of Engineering (HUE) during the inauguration ceremony of the International Joint Institute of Intelligent Engineering on 17 September 2026 in Henan, China. The ceremony was witnessed by senior leadership of HUE, as well as key officials from the Henan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and the Department of Education.
The honorary professorship was presented by HUE President, Prof. Li Liying, in recognition of Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mazliham’s outstanding contributions to advancing international educational collaboration, particularly in strengthening China–Malaysia cross-border education and fostering closer academic ties between the two countries. The recognition also acknowledges his significant role in facilitating and strengthening institutional collaboration between Multimedia University (MMU) and HUE .
This appointment marks a significant milestone in the growing partnership between the two countries and two universities, which also witnessed the official launch of the International Joint Institute of Intelligent Engineering and the commencement of three dual-degree programmes jointly developed by MMU and HUE:
- Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Intelligent Robotics (MMU) mapped with Robotics Engineering (HUE)
- Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons.) in Artificial Intelligence (MMU) mapped with Artificial Intelligence (HUE)
- Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons.) in Data Communications and Networking (MMU) mapped with Intelligent Vision Engineering (HUE)
The inaugural intake welcomed 293 students across these programmes, reflecting strong interest in the newly established academic collaboration.
In his remarks, Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mazliham highlighted the importance of nurturing graduates who are not only equipped with strong technical knowledge but also capable of applying technology to address emerging industry and societal needs. He described the Joint Institute as a platform to advance education, research, and industry engagement in intelligent engineering, while fostering greater opportunities for collaboration between students and academics from both institutions.
Looking ahead, the MMU–HUE partnership will expand into joint research, academic and staff exchanges, student mobility, joint laboratories, innovation initiatives, and industry-based projects.
Also present at the ceremony were Prof. Ir. Dr. Wong Hin Yong, Vice President of Academic and Innovative Learning, and Prof. Dr. Ooi Chee Pun, Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering. Both were invited to deliver keynote and invited presentations at the Symposium on Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education held at HUE, entitled “Building Next-Generation Digital Talent Pipelines” and “AI Development in Malaysia,” respectively.
