Students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) took part in an Industry Learning Partner session featuring Mr Vishnu Naidu, Head of Talent Acquisition at DAYTREE, on 3 September 2026 at the Cyberjaya campus.
Titled “What Employers Really Look For,” the session was jointly organised by FOM and Alumni Engagement, Career and Entrepreneurship Development (ACED) to give students a better understanding of current workplace expectations and the skills needed to prepare for their future careers.
Sharing insights from an employer’s perspective, Mr Vishnu highlighted that academic results are only one part of what employers consider when hiring. He emphasised the importance of communication, confidence, adaptability, professionalism, problem-solving and a willingness to learn as key qualities that can help candidates stand out in the workplace.
The session also offered students practical tips, real-world experiences and career advice, allowing them to gain a clearer picture of the recruitment process and how they can start developing relevant skills while still at university. Overall, the session provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect what they learn in the classroom with the expectations of the industry.
