Recognising the power of sport in shaping character and leadership, MMU, through its student committee and with the support of Student Lifestyle & Experience (STyLE), hosted the two-day Rakan Muda: School of Champions programme, bringing young footballers together in an environment that encouraged teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. The programme was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU on 28 August 2026 at the Cyberjaya campus.
The programme provided participants with an opportunity to develop their football skills while nurturing important values such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience and sportsmanship. Through football, participants were encouraged to communicate, make decisions under pressure, trust their teammates and work together towards a common goal, providing valuable lessons that extend beyond the pitch.
In his address, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham highlighted that sport can serve as an important platform for character building and holistic development. He emphasised that experiences gained through challenges, teamwork and competition can help young people develop confidence, responsibility and the ability to lead, complementing the learning they receive in the classroom.
Overall, the programme reflects MMU’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for youth development and community engagement. Through initiatives such as Rakan Muda: School of Champions, MMU continues to encourage young people to discover their potential, build strong values and grow into confident individuals and future leaders.
