A research workshop entitled ““Be Seen, Be Cited: Building Your Research Presence” by Dr. Yeo Sook Fern was held on 10 August 2026 at the Melaka campus. Organised by the Centre for Management and Marketing Innovation (CMMI), the workshop aimed to support the university’s continuous efforts to strengthen the visibility, recognition and citation impact of MMU researchers, which contributes towards enhancing the university’s overall research performance and ranking.

The session focused on an increasingly important aspect of academic research: ensuring that published research is visible, discoverable and properly connected to the researcher’s academic identity. Dr. Yeo shared practical guidance on how academics can establish and manage their online research presence through platforms such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate and ORCID, as well as other academic and research profiling platforms.

Throughout the workshop, participants were guided on the importance of maintaining accurate and updated researcher profiles. Dr. Yeo highlighted how proper management of academic profiles can help researchers improve the discoverability of their publications, consolidate their research outputs and ensure that their scholarly contributions are correctly attributed to them.

Beyond simply creating academic profiles, Dr. Yeo emphasised the importance of actively managing and maintaining one’s research presence. Researchers were encouraged to regularly update their profiles, ensure their publication information is accurate, and make appropriate use of available platforms to increase the visibility of their research.

The workshop reflects CMMI’s continued commitment to supporting the research development of academic staff and strengthening a culture of research visibility, impact and scholarly recognition within the Faculty of Business (FOB) and MMU.

Through initiatives such as this workshop, CMMI hopes to encourage more MMU researchers to build a stronger academic presence, increase the visibility of their research, and ultimately contribute towards greater research impact and recognition for both the researchers and the University.
