More than 250 runners took part in Roots & Route 2026, a 5-kilometre charity run held in Cyberjaya on 5 July 2026 in support of cancer research and community well-being. The event was officiated by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and Chief Executive Officer of MMU, and was jointly organised by the Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC) and Malaysian Bioscience Researchers (MBIOS), with support from the Communication Society, OARS, and the Student Representative Council (SRC). The event aimed to promote healthy lifestyles while raising awareness and funds for cancer-related research.

Demonstrating the university’s commitment to social responsibility, all proceeds amounting to RM10,000 were donated to Cancer Research Malaysia. The mock cheque presentation was held at Dewan Tun Canselor, Cyberjaya, where Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham presented the contribution to Ms. Yap Fui Fong, Chief Financial Officer of Cancer Research Malaysia. The funds will support ongoing efforts in advancing cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment research.

The event also featured interactive exhibition booths by Cancer Research Malaysia, MBIOS, Celebrity Fitness, and other participating organisations, alongside food trucks that added to the vibrant atmosphere. Vishsan A/L Logeswaran, the event director said the initiative was more than a fun run, describing it as a meaningful effort to bring people together in the fight against cancer. He highlighted the collective contribution of participants, sponsors, volunteers, and partners in achieving the fundraising goal, reflecting strong community collaboration and compassion.

The event was also attended by Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Student Experience & Entrepreneurship Development, Mdm Suhana Salleh, Acting Dean of FAC, as well as representatives from Cancer Research Malaysia, MMU, and faculty members. Through initiatives such as Roots & Route 2026, MMU continues to nurture socially responsible graduates who are committed to making meaningful contributions to society beyond the classroom.

Well done!
