MMU reached a new milestone with the successful organisation of iNVENTX 2026, its flagship international innovation and invention showcase, which recorded a total of 705 entries across its three platforms. Held on 2 July 2026 at Dewan Tun Canselor, the event brought together students, researchers, school participants, industry partners and educators to present innovative ideas and solutions that address real-world challenges. The event was officiated by MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud.
This year’s edition attracted 493 entries under iNVENTX 2026, 60 teams in iNVENTX Junior and 152 entries in iNVENTX Creative, reflecting the university’s growing innovation ecosystem. In his opening address, Prof. Mazliham said the encouraging participation demonstrates MMU’s commitment to nurturing future-ready talent through innovation, creativity and responsible use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

He also highlighted MMU’s AI Transformation Centre (AIX), which strengthens the university’s efforts in education, research, innovation and industry collaboration. Among the highlights were the AIX Networking Corner, which fostered engagement between academia and industry, as well as the soft launch of Jayden’s Boardgame, showcasing how creative ideas can be transformed into practical outcomes.

The event also featured the 4th International iNVENTX Creative Exhibition 2026, organised by the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM). Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham also officiated the event and among the attendees was Mr. Zolkifli Abu Bakar, Director of Film in Malaysia Office, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), together with Mr. Shamsul Shaari, General Manager, Business Growth and University Sustainability (BGUS), Prof. Ts. Dr. Ooi Shih Yin, Chairperson of iNVENTX 2026, Ms. Nadia Mahmud, Dean of FCM and Ts. Dr. Vimala Perumal, Director of the 4th International iNVENTX Creative Exhibition 2026.

With its theme, TAP-AI: Extension or Extinction? Crossing Boundaries, Opening Up Possibilities”, the exhibition received 153 submissions, with 114 works selected from 24 countries and territories across five continents, making it the most internationally diverse edition to date. The exhibition continues to strengthen MMU’s position as a platform for creative research and interdisciplinary collaboration while promoting Non-Traditional Research Outputs (NTROs), where creative works contribute to knowledge creation, innovation and industry engagement.

As MMU’s flagship innovation platform continues to grow in scale and international participation, iNVENTX 2026 further strengthens the university’s reputation as a hub for innovation, research excellence and creative collaboration. The event not only celebrates groundbreaking ideas but also inspires the next generation of innovators to create meaningful solutions for an evolving world.
