As part of MMU’s commitment to strengthening knowledge transfer and community empowerment, the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) entitled “Empowering Rural Malaysian School Teachers as Digital Educational Content and Creators 2.0” was conducted in June 2026.

The project was led by Y.M. Tengku Shahraniza Bt Tengku Abdul Jalal from the Learning Institute for Empowerment (LIfE), with Raeidah Ariff and Miza Izwanis Bt Mangsor serving as project members. The team is affiliated with the Centre for Communication, Language and Culture (CCLC) under the COE for Business Innovation and Communication (CBIC). The programme benefits educators from Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Melaka, reflecting the university’s commitment to transferring university expertise to the community through impactful engagement initiatives.

The programme was well received, attracting more than 90 pre-service teachers from rural educational institutions. Throughout the workshop, participants were exposed to practical digital tools and creative techniques for developing engaging educational content, including multimedia applications, digital storytelling, visual communication, and effective content creation strategies for today’s classrooms.

Through interactive, hands-on activities, teachers strengthened their digital competencies and gained valuable experience in producing innovative teaching materials that can enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes. By enhancing educators’ digital pedagogical capabilities, the programme contributes directly to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, while promoting the adoption of innovative digital technologies in teaching in support of SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. At the same time, by equipping rural educators with future-ready digital skills and narrowing the digital divide, the initiative also advances SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

The programme reflects our ongoing commitment to translating academic expertise into meaningful societal impact through knowledge transfer. Through initiatives spearheaded by the Office of Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT), Business Growth and University Sustainability (BGUS), MMU continues to strengthen collaboration between the university and the community, empowering educators with future-ready competencies while fostering sustainable social innovation and lifelong learning.
